Squirting dildos: how they work, how to fill them and how to keep them clean

Updated October 10, 2026

A squirting dildo is a realistic dildo with a thin channel running from the tip to a small pump, usually in the balls or the base. You fill it with a liquid and squeeze at the moment you or your partner choose, and it squirts from the tip, like a real ejaculation. That gives an ending an ordinary dildo does not have, and for many people that moment is the whole reason to buy one. This guide explains how it works, what to fill it with, which sizes there are and, most importantly, how to keep the channel clean.

How it works

On most models the pump sits in the balls. Squeeze it empty, hold the tip in the liquid and let go: the pump draws the liquid in through the tip. Repeat until it is full. When you use it, squeeze again and everything comes back out through the tip. Other models have a separate reservoir with a pump on a small tube; there you fill the reservoir and squeeze the pump.

What comes out is exactly what you put in. The amount depends on the model: the Lovetoy Squirting 9 inch holds up to 159 ml according to the manufacturer, so you do not have to refill halfway.

What to fill it with

  • Lukewarm water: the simplest and safest. Test the temperature on the inside of your wrist.
  • A thin water-based lubricant: feels slipperier. A thin lubricant moves through the narrow channel more easily than a thick gel.
  • Never oil, milk, anything sugary or anything that can go off. Oil damages the material, and sugar and proteins stay behind in the channel, where bacteria and fungi grow. Sugar in the vagina also raises the risk of a yeast infection.
  • No soap or shower gel in the vagina or anus: it irritates the mucous membrane.

Material: honest about PVC and TPE

Every squirting dildo we have in stock in October 2026 is made of PVC or TPE. That keeps them affordable and soft, but both materials are porous: they cannot be sterilised and over time they absorb smells and dirt. So use only water-based lubricant, clean it thoroughly after every use and replace it when the surface turns tacky. Why that is so is explained in body-safe materials. We do not have silicone squirting dildos in stock at the moment.

The Baile is the cheapest way to find out whether squirting is for you, with a strong suction cup. The three black Lovetoys share the same mechanism and differ only in length: start with 18 cm insertable and only move to 20 or 22 cm once you know you want to. The dual layer Squirting Dildo has a soft outside over a firmer core and a suction cup that fits a harness. The 20.3 cm Liketrue Squirtz is waterproof and phthalate free according to the manufacturer. Every model is under squirting dildos.

When it comes to size, look mainly at the insertable length and the diameter, not the total length: balls and base count in the total but do not go inside. There is more on that in choosing a dildo.

How to use a squirting dildo

Fill it before you start, so you do not have to pump in the middle of the moment. Squeeze once over the sink to check that it squirts properly and that the temperature is pleasant. Then put lubricant on the outside.

With the suction cup, fix it to tiles, glass or another smooth surface, in the shower for instance, so your hands are free and the liquid rinses away straight away. A model with a harness-compatible base can be used in a strap-on; then the wearer or a partner holds the pump and decides the moment.

A squirting dildo with balls and a suction cup can also be used anally, slowly and with plenty of lubricant; the base stops it going in too far. After anal use, always give it a full clean, channel included, before it is used vaginally.

Cleaning the channel

This is the part that decides how long a squirting dildo lasts. Do it straight after use, not the next morning.

  • Flush the channel: draw lukewarm water in through the tip and squeeze it out again, at least five times.
  • Use a toy cleaner or a little mild soap in the water for one flush, then rinse with clean water until no more foam comes out.
  • Squeeze the pump as empty as you can and let it dry tip down, so the last water runs out.
  • Only put it away once it is completely dry, apart from other toys in a storage bag; PVC and TPE can react with other materials.

If the channel smells musty or you see discolouration inside, replace the dildo. More on cleaning by material is in cleaning and storing your toys.

Sharing and condoms

A condom over the dildo catches the liquid, so it no longer squirts out. If you want to share it, clean it fully between two people, channel included, or keep it for one person. Because the material is porous, the latter is the safest choice.

Frequently asked questions

What do you fill a squirting dildo with?

Lukewarm water or a thin water-based lubricant. Never oil, milk or anything sugary: it damages the material or stays behind in the channel, where it feeds bacteria and fungi.

How much liquid does a squirting dildo hold?

It depends on the model. The Lovetoy Squirting 9 inch holds up to 159 ml according to the manufacturer; for the other models the manufacturer gives no capacity.

How do you clean the channel of a squirting dildo?

Straight after use, draw in lukewarm water and squeeze it out at least five times, once with a toy cleaner or mild soap, then rinse with clean water and let it dry tip down.

Can a squirting dildo be used in a harness?

Only if the base is made for it. In our range that is the dual layer Lovetoy Squirting Dildo 9 inch, with a suction cup that fits a harness.

Are squirting dildos safe?

Yes, if you fill them only with water or a water-based lubricant and flush the channel after every use. The models we currently have are PVC or TPE, which are porous: keep it for one person and replace it when it turns tacky or smells musty.
