Bodystockings & Catsuits
Ankle to shoulder in one piece of knitted net. Open crotch for wearing through, open back or open bust for showing, and one size that stretches a long way. The knit is the thing to look at: a fine fishnet shows more skin and snags on a ring or a nail within one evening, while a wider diamond net is sturdier and reads as a pattern rather than as a veil. One size genuinely does cover a wide range because the net has nowhere to pull from, but height is the limit rather than width, so check the length if you are tall. Put it on the way you would tights, gathered and rolled up from the ankle, and keep your rings off while you do it.

A bodystocking is one piece of knitted net from the ankle to the shoulder, with no seams and no fastenings. Nothing rides up, nothing gaps, and the whole thing weighs almost nothing. It is also the single most size-forgiving garment in this shop, which is why one size covers so much.
Why one size really does fit most
The fabric is knitted rather than cut and sewn, so it stretches in every direction and returns. A one-size bodystocking typically fits from about 36 to €65pean, roughly 45 to 80 kilos. Above that there is a queen size that fits to about 54.
Height matters more than weight. If you are over about 180 centimetres, a one-size will pull at the shoulder and the crotch, and you want a queen size or a model listed as long.
Open crotch, open back, open bust
This is the choice that actually changes what the garment is for.
An open crotch means you can keep it on for everything. There is no fastening to undo, and it is the reason most bodystockings sell. The opening is a knitted slit, not a hole, so it closes again when you stand.
An open back is decorative rather than functional and reads better from behind.
Open bust models have the cups cut away entirely. They are a specific taste, and the photographs on the product page show exactly how much is missing.
A closed model is the one to pick if you want to wear it under a dress.
Fishnet, mesh and pattern
Wide fishnet is the classic. Big open diamonds, very stretchy, and the most forgiving of the three.
Fine mesh sits closer to a stocking: it is almost a second skin and it makes the body look smoother rather than framed.
Patterned knits, with vertical stripes, florals or lace panels, are where this category gets interesting. A vertical pattern lengthens; a horizontal one does the opposite. That is not marketing, it is simply what the eye does.
The one thing that ruins them
Fingernails and jewellery. A bodystocking snags on a ring, a watch or a rough nail, and once a thread goes the ladder runs.
Put it on the way you would put on tights: gather the fabric, feed the feet in first, then work it up the legs in stages. Do not pull it on from the shoulders.
Buy two of a model you like. They are inexpensive and they do not last forever.
Care
Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, or in a laundry bag on the delicates programme. Never wring: squeeze the water out gently.
No dryer and no radiator. The elastane in the knit is what gives the stretch and heat kills it.
Store it loose in a drawer rather than folded under something heavy.
Frequently asked questions
Does one size really fit me?
Usually yes, from roughly a 36 to a €65pean. Your height matters more than your weight: above about 180 centimetres take a queen size, because a one-size will pull at the shoulder and the crotch.
What does open crotch mean in practice?
A knitted slit rather than a hole, which closes again when you stand. It means you never have to take the garment off, and that is why most bodystockings are sold this way.
Can I wear a bodystocking under clothes?
A closed model in fine mesh, yes: under a dress it works like a base layer. Open crotch and open bust models do not, for obvious reasons.
How do I stop it laddering?
Take off rings and watches, check your nails, and put it on like tights: feet first, then work it up the legs in stages. Never pull it on from the shoulders.
Can it go in the washing machine?
In a laundry bag on the delicates programme, yes. Never in the dryer and never on a radiator: the heat destroys the elastane that gives it the stretch.
