Sex torsos and half dolls: how to choose

Updated October 5, 2026

A sex torso sits between a masturbator and a full doll: a body with real weight, curves to hold and openings or a dildo, without the head, the limbs or the storage problem of something life sized. The weight is what you pay for, and also what people most often underestimate.

Why a torso and not a sleeve

A sleeve sits in your hand and moves with you. A torso stays where you put it and pushes back, which changes everything about position: lie behind it, kneel over it or have it underneath you, with both hands free. And there is something to hold on to, which for many people is the whole point.

If you mainly want texture and suction, an automatic masturbator does that for less money and cupboard space, and our guide to choosing a masturbator covers sleeves. A torso is for when you want a body.

Realistic torsos without a motor

The simplest torso is a moulded body in soft material with one or more entries and nothing to charge. The SheQu Carrie weighs 7.5 kilograms on a flat base, so it stands where you put it, with a curvy shape and multiple entries, and you set the rhythm yourself.

Thrusting torsos

XISE builds motors into its torsos. In a thrusting torso the canal itself moves, so the toy does the work and you choose the angle. The XISE Tiny is 40 centimetres tall and 8.5 kilos, with four thrusting modes at three speeds. The XISE Tidy runs the same modes in a 71 centimetre body of 16.7 kilos with two textured openings. At the top sits the XISE Erica, 86 centimetres and 24 kilos, with an internal skeleton so the hips and legs hold a pose.

Vibrating torsos

A vibrating torso does not move in and out: the canal vibrates and, on several models, also sucks. The XISE Merida (7 kilos) and the XISE Jacey (8 kilos) each have five vibration and five suction modes. The XISE Renata thrusts and vibrates at just 2.54 kilos, light enough to move with one hand. XISE models charge magnetically and most are waterproof, so they wash under the shower.

Semi torsos with a detachable dildo

A semi torso with a dildo is a hip section or male body with a shaft at the front, made to sit on, ride or kneel over. It is the torso type that makes most sense for women and for couples, and the detachable dildo is the detail to look for: it comes off for proper cleaning and on some models can be swapped.

The XISE Gretel carries a 24 centimetre liquid silicone dildo, 5 across, on a 6 kilo TPR body, thrusts in two modes at five speeds and runs from an app, so a partner can set the pace. The XISE Jonah does the same at 3.48 kilos. The XISE Henry is a full male torso of 15.7 kilos with a 16 centimetre liquid silicone dildo, 4.7 across, and an app that can sync to what is on your screen. The XISE Honey is a compact 3.2 kilo hip section with a 20 centimetre dildo that vibrates and thrusts, and it fits in a drawer.

SilexD skips the motor. The SilexD Apollo S is a male half torso in liquid silicone with a 7 inch dildo that lifts out; the SilexD Apollo L is the 54 centimetre, 8.4 kilo version in phthalate-free Silexpan and liquid silicone, with an interchangeable dildo on a suction cup. You move, the body holds still.

Weight: the number to read first

Our torsos run from about 2.5 to 24 kilos. Under four kilos you lift it with one hand and keep it on a shelf. Six to nine kilos feels like a body, stays put on the bed and is still easy to handle alone. Above fifteen kilos it is closer to furniture: the most realistic resistance, but every wash means carrying it to the shower.

Decide where it will live before you order: a 40 centimetre torso fits a wardrobe shelf, an 86 centimetre one needs its own place. Compare them all in our torsos and dolls section.

TPE, TPR or silicone

Most torsos are TPE or TPR, two names for the same family of soft elastomers. They squeeze, warm to body temperature and feel the most like skin. They are also porous, so a TPE torso is a personal toy that cannot be sterilised and must be dried thoroughly after every use. Our guide on body-safe materials explains why.

Silicone, as on the SilexD Apollo models and the XISE semi torso dildos, is non-porous, firmer and much easier to keep clean, with less squeeze. If hygiene matters most, choose silicone, or a TPR body with a silicone dildo that comes off.

Care and cleaning

Use a water-based lubricant and nothing else. Oil and silicone lubricants damage soft elastomers and silicone, and SheQu also rules out lotions and solvents. Use plenty and top up during use.

Afterwards, rinse each canal with warm water, wash with mild unscented soap and rinse again. Dry inside and out with a soft cloth or a rolled paper towel, then leave it a few hours somewhere airy. Dry TPE turns slightly tacky, and a light dusting of cornstarch brings the soft finish back. Wash a detachable dildo separately; a solid silicone one without electronics can be boiled. To warm a waterproof torso, give it a few minutes in a warm bath, never a hairdryer or a radiator.

Storage and discretion

Store it lying flat, covered, out of sunlight and away from other toys, because soft materials react with each other and can pick up colour from dark fabric. A large cotton cover or a storage bag keeps the dust off, and heavy models are best kept low.

Every order ships in a plain box with no logo and no sender name. With torsos that box is simply large, so if you share your home, it helps to know when it is coming.

How to choose

  • Realism without electronics: a moulded torso such as the SheQu Carrie.
  • The toy does the moving: a thrusting XISE torso, the Tiny if space is tight, the Tidy or Erica for a full body.
  • Something to ride: a semi torso with a detachable dildo, the Gretel or Jonah with app control, the Apollo S if you prefer silicone and no motor.
  • Little storage space or strength: stay under eight kilos.
  • Hygiene first: silicone, or a TPR body with a silicone dildo that comes off.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a torso and a sex doll?

A torso is the body without a head or full limbs: lighter, cheaper and far easier to store and clean than a full doll, with real weight and curves to hold.

Is a heavier torso better?

Heavier feels more realistic and stays put, but it is harder to move, wash and store. For most people six to nine kilos is the sweet spot.

Which lubricant can I use on a torso?

Water-based only. Oil and silicone lubricants damage TPE and silicone and cannot be fully washed out of a porous body.

How do I stop a TPE torso from turning sticky?

Dry it completely after every wash, dust it lightly with cornstarch and store it flat, covered and out of sunlight. Stickiness that stays after powdering means the surface is wearing out.
