Fantasy & Creature Dildos

Fantasy dildos are the ones that do not pretend to be human: dragons, tentacles, knots, ridges, colours that shift in the light. They are bought for texture and shape as much as for the story, and the best ones are made in small runs of platinum silicone by people who care about the pour. This guide explains how to read the shapes, the firmness scale, and what a knot actually does.

Shapes and what they do inside

A knot is a wide bulb near the base. Once it passes the entrance the muscle closes behind it and the toy locks in place, which gives a feeling of fullness and a firm tug on the way out. Knots ask for patience and lubricant and are not a first toy.

Tentacles and dragons carry ridges and swirls along the shaft; those ridges are felt at the entrance with every stroke, which is where most of the nerve endings are. A flared or spade shaped tip stretches slightly on entry and holds on the way back.

Egg laying and ovipositor toys are a niche of their own: a hollow shaft through which soft gelatine eggs are pushed. Fun, and only with eggs made for it.

Size is read in three numbers

Insertable length, circumference at the widest usable point, and knot circumference if there is one. Compare with a toy you already own rather than with a photo, because fantasy shapes look larger in pictures than they measure. A first fantasy toy sits around 13 to 16 centimetres insertable and under 14 centimetres circumference at the widest point below the tip.

Firmness changes everything

Makers offer the same shape in several firmnesses, usually on a Shore scale where a lower number is softer. Soft, around 00-20 to 00-30, squishes under the fingers, follows the body and forgives a bold shape, but bends away under pressure. Medium, around 00-50, is the everyday choice and holds a curve. Firm, above 00-50 or in Shore A, keeps ridges sharp and knots stubborn, and suits people who already know their size.

Dual density combines a firm core with a soft skin, which is the best of both if the maker offers it.

Material and colour

Platinum cured silicone is the only material to take seriously here. It is non porous, holds fine detail, takes pigment well and lasts for years. Colour pours, glitter, glow in the dark and colour shifting pigments are all encased in the silicone and do not come off.

Avoid TPE, PVC and jelly fantasy toys, however striking the colours: porous, prone to sweating oil, and impossible to sterilise.

The base

Fantasy toys usually have a wide, flat base for a suction cup, a harness or simply standing on a surface. Anything that goes in anally must have a base wider than the widest part of the shaft. Check whether the base is smooth or textured if you plan to sit on it.

Lubricant and care

Water based lubricant only with silicone. Use more than you think for ridges and knots; they hold the lubricant in their grooves and need it there. Wash with warm water and unscented soap, get into the ridges with a soft brush, and dry fully. Silicone can be boiled or run through a dishwasher without detergent. Store toys apart from each other; strong pigments can transfer between silicone surfaces in storage.
